15th Sept 2024 – Website review

Sunday 15th September, 5-7pm – open to all members

Join the CoDA UK website team & members of the World Connections Committee

The CoDA UK website team which looks after https://codauk.org/ have been carrying out a review of our website and now we need the help of our members to improve it.

Purpose of this session:

  • to share ideas
  • to find out what’s missing
  • to understand what you can’t find
  • to gather your experience, strength and hope

Join the meeting!

Background

The website has grown as a resource since the current version was set up about 8 years ago, and it now contains a HUGE amount of valuable recovery resources – for newcomers and members alike. We have information for newcomers, resources for sponsorship and service work, audio shares from around the world on many CoDA topics, comprehensive CoDA FAQs and much more. The UK website is part of a worldwide network of CoDA websites serving fellowship in the UK, and beyond.

We already know that the meetings list is the main thing people use our website for, so we don’t need to cover that in this session. However, feedback from newcomers and members shows that many of you don’t know just how many other resources are there, as it’s hard to find everything. We’ve been reviewing search logs and site traffic to see what brings people to different parts of the site and have been able to form some suggestions on how to improve the menus and pathways through the site. You can see a draft proposal discussed at the NSC here.

Before we make any major changes, we need your help

As agreed at the recent National Service Committee, the web team are holding this Zoom meeting to run through some of the options we’re suggesting, for your opinions. We also want to gather your feedback on how to make the things you want to see, find and use on the website simpler to access.

Please have a good browse around https://codauk.org/ and come along on the day with your thoughts. Some things to think about in advance:

  • When you first visited the website, what were you looking for – meetings? newcomer info? something else?
  • What are the main things you come to the website for now?
  • What do you wish were on the site – or removed from it?
  • Pick a piece of information you want to find on the website – eg meeting near me, service info, piece of literature, minutes of a meeting, events, information on sponsorship, share on Step 1 etc – how easy was it to find?
  • How is navigation and searching?
  • How can we improve the menus on the website? (see the proposal linked above)
  • Did you spend minutes looking for something you would prefer took seconds?
  • Did you know we have a translation tool for some of the free literature?
  • Were you surprised by how much content is on the site now?

On the day, we will navigate the site together and look at the bits which work well and those which need improvement, to discuss how the site can support the recovery of all codependents.

Information from newcomers is really valuable to us, as well as those who are further along their CoDA journey. You don’t need to have a technical background to come along, just a desire for healthy and loving relationships.

The Traditions which uphold us in this work are:

5. Each group has but one primary purpose – to carry its message to other Co-Dependents who still suffer.

11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion

1. Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon CoDA unity.

9. CoDA, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.

2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority – a loving higher power as expressed to our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.

If you have any questions about the meeting in advance, or you can’t make it but have feedback about the website, please let us know by emailing secretary@codauk.org. We will collate all suggestions received to feed into the meeting. You are also welcome to join the website team to help us develop the work – all service is gratefully accepted.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing your Experience, Strength and Hope on Sunday 15th September!
